Area leaders gathered Monday to officially open a newly expanded section of FM 2499 between FM 407 and FM 1171. The $24 million project that transformed the road from two to six lanes took 27 months to complete.
With a nod to both its past and its present, the Town of Bartonville is preparing to establish and commemorate its rural and pastoral nature on a small island of land at FM 407 and McMakin given to it by the county upon completion of the FM 407 curve, now referred to as the ‘Bartonville Bypass.’
