Southern Denton County in on Pilates as new studio opens in Flower Mound

An exercise style started in the early 1900s has seen a jump in popularity around southern Denton County.

Pilates studios are popping up all across town, including JETSET Pilates, which will open Saturday, Aug. 29 at 6101 Long Prairie Road in Suite 736 in The Highlands of Flower Mound shopping center.

JETSET Pilates is part of the fast-growing modern Reformer Pilates franchise, which said it offers premium, full-body workouts.

According to a press release from the franchise, the Flower Mound location will be owned by North Texas couple Chelsea Fiduccia and Matt Johns.

Johns is originally from Austin and served in the United States Navy before moving to the area in 2007. Fiduccia came to the area around the same time and began clinical psychology training at the University of North Texas in Denton, which led her to diverse experiences in community and correctional mental health systems, veteran services, and leadership.

The pair believes a JETSET Pilates studio is a way to help engrain themselves in the community while doing something they love.

“Matt and I always knew we wanted to build something together, and JETSET gave us the chance to bring our own backgrounds into a business built around people, development and community,” said Fiduccia. “We want Flower Mound to know this studio is for everyone, not just people who think of themselves as ‘Pilates people.’ Inclusivity is at the center of everything we’re building here.”

According to a press release, the new studio will feature 12 custom reformers, offering 50-minute, high energy classes combining strength, cardio and Pilates-inspired movements set to DJ-curated music.

Each class is designed to strengthen, lengthen and energize both body and mind – reflecting the studio’s mission to blend premium fitness with a community-driven experience for all fitness levels.

“Chelsea and Matt bring a remarkable combination of discipline, care and strategic thinking to JETSET Pilates,” said Bertus Albertse, CEO of JETSET Pilates. “Their backgrounds in service and mental health give them a natural instinct for building community, and that mindset aligns perfectly with our brand. We’re excited to bring JETSET Pilates to Flower Mound with owners who are committed to making the studio welcoming for all.”

JETSET Pilates is one of a few studios opening in southern Denton County.

STRONG Pilates opened its doors in Highland Village in June, offering 45-minute “Pilates-inspired classes” that combine strength training and cardio into a low-impact, high-intensity workout.

Thrive Pilates celebrated its first anniversary of business in Flower Mound back in May, offering visitors a chance to find community while working out.

It isn’t the first time a wave of Pilates studios have opened in the area.

BODYBAR Pilates was also open for a time in Flower Mound, but closed its doors after opening in October 2022.

Club Pilates also has a few locations around southern Denton County, including in Lewisville, Highland Village, southern Denton and another in Northlake that opened in July 2022.

JETSET Pilates has locations across the nation, including in seven states and Washington D.C. The Flower Mound location joins eight others in Texas and the first in Denton County.
