FMPD to hold job fairs for school crossing guards

The Flower Mound Police Department will hold three School Crossing Guard Job Fairs this month.

Last month, the Flower Mound Town Council voted 3-2 to shift crossing guard duties from an outside vendor, All City Management Services, back to the police Department. The council’s decision was to cancel the contract effective Jan. 1, but the ACMS contract only provides a 90-day contract termination notice, so the effective transition date was moved up to Nov. 6.

The police department announced Tuesday that it is seeking to hire about 60 crossing guards to take over for ACMS, and it will host three job fairs in late September:

  • Sept. 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Community Activity Center, 1200 Gerault Road
  • Sept. 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Flower Mound Senior Center, 2701 West Windsor Drive
  • Sept. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Community Activity Center, 1200 Gerault Road

All job fairs will provide the opportunity to receive information, apply, interview and complete the physical ability testing, according to a town news release. No hiring will be done on-site.
