Cloud 9 Salon & Spa, a Flower Mound staple for many years, is planning a move to Bartonville.
Owner Kim Cloud said that 14 years ago, when the business moved to its current location, 1651 Justin Road, “it was a fantastic location.” It was set back a bit from FM 407, but there weren’t any structures in front of the building.
“For many years, we were the place to be,” Cloud said. “We were the newest and the biggest.”
But since then, new businesses have been built in front of Cloud 9 and more salons have opened in the Highland Village/Flower Mound area, and Cloud said that about five years ago, she had about one-third of her stylists leave around the same time.
More recently, Cloud said she and her husband ate dinner at Marty B’s, about 6 miles west of her salon on FM 407 in Bartonville, and it hit her. She wanted to move the salon west, and this was the place.
“I’m certain that it’s time to go,” she said.
Cloud said she is in the process of purchasing a piece of land near Marty B’s with a frontage location on FM 407. She said her goal is to close on the sale late this year or early next year, and then she would hopefully be able to open the new salon location about a year later.
Until the new location is ready to open, Cloud said her salon will remain open in her current location. She is looking to sell the 8,200-square-foot space now, and then lease it back for about a year.
“Though it’s not frontage, our building would be a great location for a beginner church, a gym or workout place, office space or medical businesses, among others,” Cloud said.
