A local Chili’s restaurant raised more than $2,000 for Flower Mound Animal Services last month.

From June 25-29, diners at the Chili’s near the corner of FM 407 and FM 2499 could have 20 percent of their sales donated to Flower Mound Animal Services, the town department that runs the animal shelter, by mentioning or showing the Give Back event flyer. Animal Services also had a booth set up outside the restaurant entrance.

The department posted on Facebook on Wednesday that between the Give Back donations and cash donations at Chili’s, more than $2,000 was added to its Animal Care Fund. The money will help buy beds, food, toys and help pay medical expenses for pets.

The Flower Mound Animal Adoption Shelter accepts donations of cash, pet food, toys and supplies in case it has unexpected expenses that aren’t covered by the budget, such as taking in animals in need of medical treatment.
