Flower Mound Firefighters Association endorses Steve Dixon for mayor

Steve Dixon

The Flower Mound Professional Firefighters Association has endorsed Steve Dixon in the race for mayor of Flower Mound.

The organization’s statement cites Dixon’s “proven record of supporting the Fire Department and all of the town’s public safety entities,” and it says its members believe Dixon is the candidate who most values “the contributions they make to the community.”

“If (Dixon) is on Town Council, we are confident support for the public and the Fire Department will remain a priority, and there will be a continued positive culture for all employees resulting in a higher level of service for the residents we protect,” said Association President Michael Baldree in a prepared statement.

Dixon said he has received the support of the local police officers association and firefighters association while successfully running for Town Council seats in the past, “so this is consistent validation for my candidacy,” he said.

Dixon previously sat on council from 2009 to 2011 in Place 1. He took a year off and was elected to Place 4 after unseating Steve Lyda in May 2012. Dixon chose to not seek re-election in 2016. He also served on several boards and commissions between 2004-2009 and is an active member of the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce.

Dixon is running for mayor against former two-time council member Paul Stone, newcomer Bill Robinson and Cathy A. Strathmann, who ran unsuccessfully for council the past two years.
