A Flower Mound High School student will compete for the title of Miss Texas Outstanding Teen this summer.
Last month, 14-year-old Lauren Faria was crowned Miss East Texas Outstanding Teen, a preliminary to the Miss America program.
Lauren performed a jazzy ballet en pointe dance number to “Feel it Still,” and contestants were also judged on their six-minute interview with a panel of judges, onstage question & evening gown, scholastic achievement and fitness portion.
Lauren’s platform is “Power of STEM for a Better World,” and she is a strong STEM advocate, according to her mother, Ausa Faria. She partnered with Forestwood Middle School to bring a female engineer to speak at Career Day and she helped raise funds for Donald Elementary’s STEM Academy.
Lauren aspires to become an engineer, and she is a FMHS freshman Air Force JROTC Flight Sergeant, she’s in Color Guard/ Band, she’s a Girl Scout and was a recipient of the coveted Jag Award during her first semester.
By winning the East Texas crown, Lauren will compete for the title of Miss Texas Outstanding Teen in June.
