Happy New Year to our residents and welcome to those new to our community!
I would like to personally thank everyone who supported our Blue Santa program again this year! This was our third year with the program, and once again, the generosity, kindness and compassion of the Bartonville citizens helped bring smiles of hope and joy to nine local families on Christmas Day. Over $1,600 in cash/gift cards was collected, along with hundreds of thoughtful gifts of clothes, toys, bikes and miscellaneous items. The community and generosity of our citizens is humbling.
Two large scale projects have come to a close: The West Jeter Road construction project, along with the Underground Storage Tank removal at the old Bartonville Store. Again, thank you to County Commissioner Andy Eads, and the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality for their support. Without the assistance of both agencies these projects would have cost the town an additional $350,000 to complete. This savings allowed us to complete these much-needed efforts timely as well as allowing us to invest in other important projects around Bartonville.
The Town Council has various goals and objectives it strives to meet annually. In 2016, we are setting out to complete a Strategic Plan coupled with an updated Capital Improvements Plan. This activity will set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, and ensure employees and stakeholders are working towards common goals. We want to hear your thoughts! Please feel free to share your ideas and desires, as always, you are invited to join us at any of the open meetings. Staff will send out email meeting announcements when future dates are identified.
January is typically one of our colder months. Please remember those in need and protect your pipes and pets.
I am excited for the opportunities 2016 will bring and blessed to be a part of the Bartonville Community!
Happy New Year!
