Auto dealerships’ raffle helps local nonprofits

Honda of Denton and Toyota of Denton hosted the 2017 Community Support Raffle on May 13.

Honda of Denton and Toyota of Denton hosted the 2017 Community Support Raffle on Saturday at Honda of Denton.

This year’s winner was Wilma Rockmore from Dallas. Rockmore purchased his winning ticket from the DC Queens.

The winner can choose a brand new Honda, Toyota or Scion vehicle with an MSRP of $30, 000 or less. Rockmore selected a 2017 Honda Accord from Honda of Denton.

“The Lord has truly blessed me with this new car” said Rockmore. “I really needed it. I only bought a few tickets and I couldn’t believe it when I got the call. I was so excited, I was crying, laughing and hollering!”

This year the Community Support raffle raised over $150,000 for the 72 participating organizations. Since 2006 the Community Support Raffle has raised a total of $1.7 million dollars for the community.

Schools or nonprofit organizations can use this opportunity to raise funds for specific projects by selling raffle tickets. 100 percent of the money raised goes to the organization. This year the money supported mentorship programs, traveling to competitions, mission trips, school trips, fine arts equipment, field repairs and more.

The 2018 Community Support Program will begin in mid-August. If you are interested in this fundraising opportunity or purchasing tickets, contact Community Support Director, Amalia Ballard, at 940-535-7707 or [email protected].
