Flower Mound football blows out Marcus in front of sold out Mound Showdown crowd
The Marauders had won the last four Battle of the Mound matchups heading into Friday night’s game against Flower Mound, but this time it was the Jaguars’ turn.
It was all Flower Mound in the first half, as the Jaguars jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead.
Baron Sampson connected with Trey Brown on a 44-yard touchdown pass to get things going for the Jaguars, then followed with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Brown to make it 14-0.
Sampson then connected with Mike Miles on a 58-yard touchdown pass, giving the Jaguars a 21-0 lead heading into the second quarter.
Sampson found Miles again on a 22-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter, then connected with him for a third touchdown, this time from 67 yards out, to make it 35-0 at halftime.
Sampson passed for 262 yards and five touchdowns in the first half, while Miles had 166 receiving yards and three touchdowns at the break.
Sampson picked up where he left off early in the third quarter, connecting with Brown on a 74-yard touchdown pass.
Coy Dowell scored on a 10-yard run in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring.

Flower Mound (5-1, 2-1) will play Wakeland at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, in Frisco, while Marcus (2-4, 0-3) will host Braswell at 7 p.m. the same night.
Argyle 45, Lovejoy 28
The Eagles remained unbeaten in district play following a 45-28 victory over Lovejoy on Friday night.
Lovejoy jumped out to an early lead, but Argyle answered with a 13-yard touchdown run by Max Pomeroy to tie the game at 7.
Logan Rexroat then scored on a 2-yard run to give the Eagles a 14-7 lead after the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter, Hayes Hackney connected with Ake O’Neal on a 32-yard touchdown pass to extend Argyle’s lead to 21-7.
Hackney then found O’Neal on a 22-yard touchdown pass, and a 23-yard field goal by Preston Edwards gave the Eagles a 31-7 halftime lead.
Rexroat scored again on a 6-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, but Lovejoy answered with a touchdown to make it 38-14 heading into the fourth.
Lovejoy scored again in the fourth quarter, but Argyle responded when Hackney connected with Julian Caldwell on a 6-yard touchdown pass.
Hackney passed for 408 yards and three touchdowns, while Rexroat rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns. O’Neal finished with 141 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Argyle (6-1, 3-0) will visit The Colony at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.
Lewisville 42, Guyer 7
Two big special teams plays helped lift Lewisville on Friday night, as the Farmers took a major step toward a playoff berth with a 42-7 victory over Guyer.
Lewisville improved to 3-0 in district play with the victory.
The Farmers scored first on a 41-yard touchdown pass from Aiden Evans to Xavier Miles.
Guyer answered when Carter Morgan scored on a 3-yard run to tie the game at 7 after the first quarter.
Lewisville regained the lead early in the second quarter when Deuce Mathis connected with Derrick Martin on a 63-yard touchdown pass. Mathis then returned a punt 73 yards for a touchdown to make it 21-7.
The defense came up with another big play when Devin Robinson returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown, giving Lewisville a 28-7 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, Evans connected with Landon Brazzell on a 15-yard touchdown pass, and Mathis returned another punt, this time for 68 yards, to complete the scoring.
Lewisville (3-3, 3-0) will host Hebron at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, while Guyer (4-2, 2-1) will host Little Elm at 7 p.m. the same night.
Liberty Christian 55, Parish Episcopal 7
The Warriors had little trouble defeating Parish Episcopal on Friday night, cruising to a 55-7 victory.
Crews Messer connected with Jace Johnson on a 62-yard touchdown pass to give Liberty Christian a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
Parish Episcopal answered with a touchdown of its own, but Correll Buckhalter Jr. scored on a 1-yard run to give the Warriors a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter, Messer connected with Cooper Witten on a 39-yard touchdown pass, and Buckhalter broke free for a 42-yard touchdown run to extend Liberty Christian’s lead to 28-7.
Messer then found Buckhalter on a 9-yard touchdown pass to give the Warriors a 35-7 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, Messer connected with Cash McCoart on a 24-yard touchdown pass, and Witten returned a blocked field goal attempt 85 yards for a touchdown, giving the Warriors a 48-7 lead with 3:16 remaining in the quarter.
Landon Holland connected with Ryker Shanks on a 10-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring.
Buckhalter finished with 158 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Liberty Christian (5-2, 3-0) will visit John Paul II at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.
Southlake Carroll 44, Northwest 7
Northwest struggled Friday night, falling 44-7 to No. 11 Southlake Carroll.
The Dragons scored six unanswered touchdowns in the first half to take a commanding 41-0 lead into halftime.
Carroll added a field goal in the third quarter to extend its lead to 44-0.
With 8:40 remaining in the game, Mark Hartman put Northwest on the board with a 34-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Hawkins.
Hartman finished with 141 passing yards and a touchdown.
Northwest (0-6, 0-3) will travel to Trophy Club to face Byron Nelson at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.
Keller 49, Byron Nelson 42
The Bobcats battled back and forth with Keller on Thursday night but came up just short.
Byron Nelson jumped out to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Ben Odom to Nolan Hawkins.
Keller answered with a touchdown to tie the game at 7 heading into the second quarter.
The Indians scored first in the second quarter to take a 14-7 lead, but Nelson answered on a 3-yard touchdown run by Odom to tie the game again.
Keller regained the lead three minutes later, but the Bobcats responded with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Odom to Hawkins to make it 21-21 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Nelson scored 14 unanswered points on an 8-yard touchdown run by Tre Green and a 1-yard touchdown pass from Odom to Cooper Waldrip, giving the Bobcats a 35-21 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Keller scored early in the fourth to cut the lead to seven points.
Macavion Hill restored Nelson’s 14-point advantage with an 18-yard touchdown run, but Keller scored three unanswered touchdowns to secure the 49-42 victory.
Green rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown.
Byron Nelson (3-3, 1-2) will host Northwest at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.
