A single-engine airplane made a crash landing Wednesday evening at Aero Valley Airport near Canyon Falls.
Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 and 2 responded to the crash at 4:38 p.m., where crews found a four-seat plane that had crashed just before the runway.
While the initial report said the plane was upside down, when crews arrived the plane was resting upright.
According to an eyewitness, the plane hit the ground and spun around on its nose before coming to a stop about a half-mile short of the runway.
Officials found just one occupant, who the eyewitness said had pulled himself out onto the wing of the plane.
He was transported to a local hospital with what the witness described as two broken legs below the knee.
The cause of the plane crash has not been determined.
(Note: this story was updated to clarify the position of the plane after it crashed, which conflicted original reports)
