Warm Greetings from Bartonville!
A big thank you to everyone that attended and contributed to the success of our National Night Out on October 1st. This annual community building event helps strengthen the relationship between our residents and our police department, and it’s just good old-fashioned fun! A special thank you to Lantana Community Church for allowing the Town to hold the event on their property.
The Town also participated in the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Drug Takeback Day on October 28th. This program allows for the safe disposal of unused medications. If you missed the event, we have a permanent drug disposal bin in Town Hall that can be accessed anytime during Town Hall business hours.
After careful consideration, the Town Council has chosen to suspend the 2019 Streets Project in order to investigate the cause of surface cracking in recently repaired streets and to determine how best to prevent such future problems. The remainder of the project, which includes sections of Dove Creek Road, Cardinal Court, Hunter Court, and Glenview Lane; will be completed in the spring of 2020.
Fall is here with cooler weather, and we all want to go outside and rake and burn the fallen leaves. You will need to register (free of charge) your controlled burn with the Denton County Fire Marshall’s Office at 940-349-2840.
With that thought, the days are getting shorter and the leaves are turning. Remember, Daylight Savings Time ends on Saturday, November 4th (fall back one hour). Always a good time to remember to check your chimneys and test your smoke detectors.
A friendly reminder that the Town Council meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. I hope to see you at the November meeting. Town Hall will be closed Monday, November 11th in observation of the Veterans Day as well as Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th for Thanksgiving.
Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and abundant blessings!
