The Lewisville ISD Education Foundation Board of Directors announced Tuesday that it has named Dr. Thomas White as Executive Director for LEF.
White becomes the third executive director in the foundation’s nearly 30-year history. He follows longtime Executive Director Connie Pelphrey, who is retiring and will aid in the transition.
“I am grateful to Dr. Rogers and the LEF Board of Directors for giving me the opportunity to be part of such a great organization,” White said. “As both a parent of LISD students and a graduate of the school district, I know that this foundation makes a difference. Connie has done a tremendous job establishing LEF as an integral partner in the community, and I hope to build upon her legacy.”
White, who came up through Lewisville ISD starting at Timber Creek Elementary, then Lamar Middle before graduating from Marcus High, was the clear-cut choice for the LEF Board, according to a news release from the foundation.
“LEF hit a home run,” said Stephen Dubner, chair of the hiring committee and President Elect. “He has the skills and expertise to ensure LEF remains one of the premiere education foundations in the country.”
Current LEF President Michelle Cree mentioned White’s leadership style, investment in the community, and his knowledge of education as well as education foundations as primary reasons he stood out in the nationwide search.
After nearly a decade teaching in academia at the University of Oklahoma, White stepped into the non-profit world as Assistant Director of Advancement and External Relations at the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center. From there, he entered collegiate fundraising as the Director of Development Communications at OU before serving most recently as the Director of Development and Alumni Relations Communications at the University of Texas at Arlington.
“We are excited for Dr. White to join the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation as its next leader,” said LISD Superintendent Dr. Kevin Rogers. “He brings a wealth of experience to the organization, and I am confident he will take LEF to even greater heights.”
