DOVFD July 4 Parade and Picnic 

Congratulations to our Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department on another successful parade and picnic. It is a blessing to see our community and friends line the streets for the parade and afterwards gather in the park for the picnic. Our residents’ support of our Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department is truly special.

Cedarcrest Lane Paving Project

The Town plans to pave Cedarcrest Lane this fiscal year. Our town engineer held a pre-bid meeting with contractors on Wednesday, July 24, and the bids were opened and announced on July 31. The general work will consist of edge milling and asphalt overlay. The Town and contractor will communicate prior to the work commencing.

Council Member Steps Down 

Council member Ginger Brittain announced her resignation at the conclusion of the July 1, 2019 council meeting. The Town of Double Oak thanks Mrs. Brittain for her service.

Town Council Vacancy

The Town of Double Oak last month accepted applications from residents who wished to be considered for an appointment to fill a vacant council seat. The deadline to apply was Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Applicants should plan to attend the Town Council meeting on Monday, August 5, at 7 p.m. Please contact Town Secretary Eileen Kennedy with any questions at 972-539-9464.

Waketon Road Improvements Project

The engineering firm continues to meet with some property owners for needed easements and right-of-way agreements. The project needs these agreements in place to move forward.

2019-2020 Fiscal Year Budget and Tax Rate

Town Council, citizens and staff have begun preparing the next fiscal year budget and tax rate. All have agreed there will not be any consideration to increase our .23000 cent property tax rate.

The town will discuss the next fiscal year budget during council meetings and will hold public hearings and adopt the budget and tax rate in September.
