Bass Pro Drive will be closed over the weekend as construction continues in the area around Hwy 121 and FM 2499.
From 8 p.m. Friday, March 8 to 6 a.m. Monday, March 11, NorthGate Constructors will close Bass Pro Drive from Hwy 26 to Enchanted Way, according to a news release from NorthGate. As crews continue to work on the new Bass Pro Drive bridge over Hwy 121, this closure will allow NorthGate to begin moving traffic into temporary configurations to advance work in the area.
The following ramps and frontage road will be closed in association with the Bass Pro Drive closure:
- Northbound Hwy 121/westbound I-635 off-ramps to Bass Pro Drive. Detour to Freeport Parkway
- Southbound Hwy 121 off-ramp to Bass Pro Drive. Detour to Hwy 26.
- Southbound Hwy 121 frontage road at Bass Pro Drive. Detour to Hwy 26.
Once completed, the new Bass Pro Drive bridge will add capacity to this intersection, in addition to a Texas U-turn on the south side of the bridge. All construction work is dependent on weather conditions. Drivers should plan accordingly during this work and add extra time to their commute, according to the news release. Additional nightly closures will take place this weekend across the project, and complete details are available at dfwconnector.com.
The $371 million I-635/SH 121 Interchange project will increase capacity and connectivity between I-635, Hwy 121, Hwy 26 and FM 2499. The improvements were included in the original $1.6 billion DFW Connector project, but funds were not available at that time to deliver the entire scope. These improvements are now funded as part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s Texas Clear Lanes initiative, which aims at improving congested corridors across the state.
