The city of Highland Village and town of Flower Mound councils approved resolutions this week that authorized an automatic aid agreement for fire and emergency medical services.

The agreement will effectively shorten the response times for homes and businesses near the border between Highland Village and Flower Mound, according to news releases from both municipalities. For Flower Mound homes in the Stone Hill Farms subdivision and the adjacent neighborhood south of Justin Road, east of Morriss Road and north of Valley Ridge Boulevard, the Highland Village Fire Department will automatically send one paramedic engine to fire and emergency medical calls, providing a quicker response time.

In return, the Flower Mound Fire Department will provide a second engine to commercial fire alarms in Highland Village.
