The Northwest Independent School District begins the 2018-19 school year on Monday with new school buses equipped with seat belts.

In a school district video, NISD Superintendent Ryder Warren and a bunch of NISD students introduced 240 new buses for the 2018-19 school year, each equipped with new safety features, such as seat belts, back-up cameras and GPS monitoring systems.

Parents can download the SafeStop app for iPhone or Android to track their kids’ bus. You must provide your child’s district-issued student ID number to register for the service, and you will also need to input your zip code to find Northwest ISD and select it as your school district.

The new buses also have overhead storage for students’ backpacks. NISD is also switching to a new transportation service provider, Reliant, a division of MV Transportation.
