Double Oak police seek help finding vehicle burglary suspect

Double Oak police are seeking the public’s help identifying a suspect who is believed to have followed a resident home from a bank, broke into the victim’s vehicle and stole $2,500 cash.

A resident in the 3900 block of Chapel Court reported Friday evening that someone broken into his vehicle and stole the cash, according to a Double Oak Police Department post on social media. The victim had gone to a bank in Irving and withdrawn the cash for the purchase of a trailer, then drove home, put the bank bag in the center console and locked the doors.

While a visitor to Double Oak was speaking with the victim, an unknown white male wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans broke the driver’s side window of the victim’s truck, opened the center console and took the money, according to DOPD. The suspect got into a black car driven by a black male, and the car drove away northbound on Chinn Chapel Road.

Investigators believe the suspects followed the victim from the bank to his home in Double Oak. If you have any information about this incident, contact Investigator Murphy at 972-355-5995.
