LETTER: Cartwright for Justice of the Peace

If you have seen all the big baby blue signs with a smiling face on them and think you might want to vote for Harris Hughey, you might want to reconsider.

In October of 2014, I was served with papers stating that he was suing me. He named me and U.S. Navy Master Chief Don Shields in a lawsuit against his opponent, Judge Jay Hand.

Mr. Hughey accused me of passing out Judge Hand’s mailer which evidently had an omission in it. On Election Day, I was passing out a different push card and never saw that mailer. I feel his lawsuit contained misinformation about my actions.

Mr. Hughey has a small law firm in the Mid-Cities and my insurance company assigned me to a very large old prestigious law firm in Ft. Worth. When he found out who was representing me, he dismissed me from the case.

Why do I mention this now? Because, as of May 11, 2018, Denton County Court records indicate this is still an open case against Master Chief Shields.

In my opinion, Mr. Hughey has dragged this case on far too long. I am supporting Don Cartwright for Justice of the Peace of Precinct 4 and hope you will also.
