Northwest ISD receives award for innovative technology initiatives

The Center for Digital Education has named Northwest ISD as one of the winners of its 2017-18 Digital School Districts Survey Awards, which annually recognize school districts that implement innovative technology initiatives.

Northwest ISD — which serves part of southern Denton County — is among 16 large school districts – those with 12,000 students or more – named to the list, which includes 45 total districts, according to a news release. Northwest ISD is the only Texas school district named to the list, and this is the sixth straight year to receive the award.

Districts are honored based on survey data that includes topics such as personalized learning, professional skills development, mobile device usage, cybersecurity, student data privacy, network infrastructure and classroom technologies, according to a news release. Additionally, school districts are judged based on their transparency – including posting board meeting information online – and digital curricula.
