Around Argyle – January 2018

Argyle Mayor Donald Moser

Happy New Year!  I truly hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Joyous New Year Celebration.  This time of year is great for being with loved ones and taking a short break from our busy lives.  But, now it is time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work!

The past seven months have been extremely busy.  We started with the Comprehensive Development Plan revisions and continued with the implementation of a stronger Tree Ordinance, the confirmation of a new Town Manager, Online streaming of Town Council and Planning and Zoning Commission meetings.  If that wasn’t enough, we also conducted interviews of over 20 applicants for the open positions on the Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) and the Economic Development Commission (EDC).

I am excited about 2018!  We are finalizing the revisions to the town’s Comprehensive Development Plan which has been a huge undertaking.  I want to thank everyone for the countless hours devoted to this project as well as the input from our community.  It has been amazing to see the how much our community has united to help guide the Council.  We hope this involvement continues, as we are here to serve you.

The next the couple of months are already starting to fill up.  I am continuing “Mornings with the Mayor” on the first Saturday of each month.  This will take place at town hall and include coffee, donuts and conversation.  Other events include the dedication of the newly constructed Argyle Community Park, meetings with TxDOT regarding the future of Hwy 377 and FM 407, continued work toward silent railroad crossings in the town as well as elections for three places on the Town Council.  This is all within the first few months of the year.

So, as I stated earlier, let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work.
