Greetings from Bartonville.
Happy New Year to our residents and a special welcome to those new to our community!
We end 2017 with gratitude and warmth. I would like to personally thank everyone who supported our Blue Santa program again this year! This was our fifth year with the program, and once again, the generosity, kindness and compassion of the Bartonville citizens helped bring smiles of hope and joy to nine local families on Christmas Day. Over $2,000 in cash/gift cards was collected, along with many toys, bikes, clothing, and miscellaneous items. The generosity of our citizens is humbling.
I also want to extend a special thank you to the Greater Bartonville FM 407 Lion’s Club. They helped raise extra funds for the local food bank as well as the Blue Santa program by selling popcorn and collecting donations at the annual Bartonville Town Center Christmas Event. Your continued service to our community is greatly appreciated.
As we look forward to 2018, a few items have our focus:
The Town is keeping a watchful eye on the Lacey Oaks substation. CoServ and Brazos had intended to file with the Texas Public Utilities Commission in 2017, but that has been delayed. Once a new timeline has been established, we will make sure to provide an update.
Based on resident feedback, the opening of Marty B’s has been a tremendous success! We are lucky to have such a progressive owner, who has taken to heart the feedback from a few residents regarding the live music. The owner is working with a sound engineer to improve the overall Marty B’s experience
The New Year also means the spring elections are right around the corner. The first day to file for a place on the ballot is January 17, 2017. Candidate application packets will be at Town Hall or may be downloaded from the Town’s website.
Remember, our kids are heading back to school, please be mindful of speed zones and crosswalks.
The New Year brings with it a fresh start, new opportunities and an exhilarating sense of renewal. I am excited to ring in the opportunities of 2018 and blessed to be a part of the Bartonville community!
Happy New Year!
