Elizabeth Smart to speak at women’s health fair

The victim of one of the most followed child abduction cases of our time will share her story of survival and determination at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound’s annual Women’s Health Fair on Feb. 3.

The first 100 women in attendance will have the opportunity to receive a book signed by Elizabeth Smart, whose 2002 kidnapping in Salt Lake City gained national attention.

Emphasizing the importance of preventive medicine, the event will offer free screenings such as cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose, body mass index, thyroid and heart.

Participants will also get the chance to experience and test drive one of the most advanced robotic surgical systems in the world, the da Vinci Xi.

The event will kick-off with a physician panel to answer questions from the audience, moderated by Sharon Hillgartner, APRN, WHNP-BC, CBN, Director of Specialty Services at Texas Health Flower Mound.

The panel participants will include an oncologist, orthopedic surgeon, breast surgeon, urologist, cardiologist, family practitioner, OB/GYN, plastic surgeon, and a colon and rectal specialist.

Breakfast will be served and there will be door prize drawings throughout the morning.

The Women’s Health Fair will be held on Saturday, February 3, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Courtyard Marriott, located directly behind the hospital.
