Brazos Electric Cooperative, CoServ’s generation and transmission provider, has announced a public meeting to discuss plans for new power lines and a substation to be built in southern Denton County.
Brazos plans to construct approximately 3 to 7 miles of double-circuit 138—kilovolt electric transmission line with single-pole structures between Bartonville and west Flower Mound.
A new 5 to 10-acre substation would be located west of FM 407 in Bartonville.
The transmission line would connect the new substation to an interconnection site along an existing Brazos transmission line located just east of Brazos Electric’s Cross Timbers substation, near the intersection of Hwy 377 and FM 1171. See a map here.
The transmission line right-of-way would be 70 feet wide and 100 feet wide where needed for angled structures.
“The proposed project will provide for increased capacity and better continuity of service for CoServ Electric, Brazos Electric’s member cooperative, and its member customers,” according to a press release from Hicks & Company.
The “come and go” meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, in the Argyle High School cafeteria, 191 Hwy 377.
At the meeting, exhibits will be available which explain the need for the project, depict alternative routes and possible substation locations, and illustrate the transmission line structures and typical substations.
Staff from Brazos Electric, CoServ Electric, and Hicks & Company will be on hand to gather and share information along with answering questions about the project.
