Area residents can celebrate Independence Day weekend with patriotic music that evokes inspiring moments in the history of the country.
The Flower Mound Symphony Orchestra, directed by Esteban Rojas, the chancel choir of Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, directed by Karen Chraska and the Voices of Flower Mound community chorus, directed by Arturo Ortega, will present a free patriotic concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3, at Trietsch, 6101 Morriss Road in Flower Mound.
Rojas, music director of the Flower Mound Community Orchestras, will direct the performance along with Chraska and Ortega, which will include Armed Forces Salute, selections from the “Grand Canyon Suite,” “Star Spangled Banner” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic” – choir and orchestra, “America the Beautiful,” “Fireworks,” “God Bless America” and other patriotic favorites.
In a return engagement, the internationally renowned pianist, Eduardo Rojas will play Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” with the orchestra. Rojas, Colombia’s celebrated classical music star now residing in Dallas, is renowned for his delicate touch, colorful tone and the deep musicality with which he delivers his powerful, fiery renditions.
