Foodie Friday: Did someone say “pizza?”

A regular date night activity for my wife and me is to hop in the car and head to one of our  favorite local pizza restaurants for dinner. I’d love to tell you about some of the Marks’ favorites!

And I’m currently on a no-carb diet, so since I can’t enjoy any pizza, I figure you all might as well get to!

Take one step from Parker Square into Enzo’s and you’ll feel like you’ve just stepped into a pizza place right in the heart of Manhattan. If you’re into New York style pizza, you’ll love Enzo’s! And if our endorsement isn’t enough, how about one from the Flower Mound Police Department? It’s a local hot-spot for our town’s officers, and Enzo takes great care of them when they come in.

Enzo’s offers lots of great homestyle Italian dishes, but their pizza is truly magnifico! You can choose from one of Enzo’s specialties like the “New Yorker,” or you can create your own masterpiece. But no matter what you top it with, each Enzo’s pizza is cooked with a perfect New-York style crust – doughy in the middle and crisp around the edges.

The idea of serving authentic pizza is not new to Flower Mound. This we know because Sebian Bardhi and her family opened Bari’s 30 years ago here in Flower Mound so that they could share their authentic Italian family recipes with residents.

My personal favorite pizza at Bari’s is the Margherita Pizza which is a classic Bardhi family recipe made with olive oil, basil, garlic, fresh sliced tomato and ricotta cheese.

Bari’s is not the only authentic Italian pizza restaurant in the area, however. Pete and Liz Pagano opened up their restaurant, Peter’s Pizzeria, in Highland Village so they could share their love for cooking with local residents as well.

Each of their pizzas come out hot and gooey, and they can be customized based on your tastes, needs and wants. And they only use the freshest of ingredients which wonderfully compliments the homemade quality of their dough and sauce.

Chef Tony’s

If you haven’t checked out Chef Tony’s (one of Flower Mound’s newer pizza restaurants), shame on you! It’s no wonder they have so many positive reviews across the Internet – everything Chef Tony serves looks as great as it tastes. Which makes sense when you consider his exquisite culinary training that he passes along to all of his employees.

Chef Tony’s offers several incredible artisan pizza selections including the Wicked Chicken topped with roasted garlic, chicken breast, applewood smoked bacon, red onions, mozzarella, provolone and basil.

And Chef Tony has another trick up his sleeve that makes his pizzas taste different than anyone else’s – he has the only rotating wood fire stove in DFW. This ensures that each pizza is cooked to perfection, while still getting that decadent wood-fire taste.
