5 things to know today: July 1

Happy July everybody! Here are five things to know today:

• Flower Mound’s Independence Fest is coming up. Check out what you should and should not take with you!

• Kids feel like a little challenge? Today kicks off the Flower Mound Parks Photo Scavenger Hunt. Simply check Facebook each day for the challenge.

• Calling all Copper Canyon residents: the town is having its annual Independence Day parade at 10 a.m. July 4. If you want to be in the parade, decorate anything that moves. The line up will be at 9:30 in front of town hall. Hotdogs and drinks outside town hall after the parade.

• We’re looking at a high of 94 degrees today and a low of about 75 this evening. No rain in sight, but some clouds might pop up.

• Ahhh … traffic. Starting on Monday, Sagebrush Drive between Morriss Road and Oak Meadow Drive, heading west, will be down to one lane for repairs. The road should be fully open again by July 20.
