FM 1171 widening project making progress

The FM 1171 Phases II and III projects in west Flower Mound took another step forward this week.

On Wednesday, traffic was shifted to the new westbound lanes of FM 1171 from Tour 18 to railroad tracks west of Hwy 377.

Crews are now turning their attention to finalizing lane markings, sign installation and pavement cleaning in anticipation of the next traffic changeover, which will redirect motorists to the new westbound lanes of FM 1171 from the railroad tracks west of Hwy 377 to I-35W.

Next, concrete pouring will begin on the eastbound lanes of FM 1171 from Tour 18 to Shiloh Road. Rain has caused some delays to the project, but Public Works officials confirm the project overall is still on schedule to be complete in March 2017.
