Flower Mound police and fire appreciation day June 13

Backing the BadgeThe Flower Mound Summit Club and the Women of Flower Mound are planning a community event on June 13th for residents to say thanks to employees and volunteers with the town’s police and fire departments.

The event was rescheduled from its original date of May 16 due to expected rain.

To start the day, the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound Health Run will kick off the event at 8:30 a.m. at Lamar Middle School. The 5K will traverse a course through the streets and nature paths near the school. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound will have a tent set up to dispense health related information to help raise health awareness. Serious runners, “fun” runners and their children are all encouraged to come out and run before they head over to Jake’s Hilltop Park where there will be a full afternoon of activities sponsored by Backing the Badge’s title sponsor, Cornerstone Staffing.

Afternoon events include a softball game, live entertainment, children’s activities, sponsor booths, food trucks and more.

The softball game will feature police and fire department employees playing each other. Also planned are pie and hot dog eating contests.

The activities are being planned to allow residents to meet and spend time with first responders.

The fun run is also being sponsored by Heritage Health Solutions and Elsey & Elsey Law Firm. Members of the Summit Club will be cooking hot dogs.

Other sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are available and donations will be accepted to offset expenses. Donations are tax deductible when made through the Flower Mound Summit Club, a 501c3 organization. Proceeds from the all-day event will go directly to support the police and fire departments.
