Highland Village officials joined Jaramco Investments for the official groundbreaking of the Wichita Estates subdivision on May 7.

Since the Highland Village City Council approved the final plat for the 18-acre subdivision on March 10, construction on the development’s infrastructure, including roads, utilities and pad site, has been underway.

Wichita Estates is located off Highland Village Road and Sellmeyer Lane just a half-mile from Lake Lewisville. The single-family subdivision features 39 residential lots, six common areas that will be maintained by a homeowner’s association, a connection to the citywide Highland Village Trail System, and sidewalks throughout the community.

Lots range from 10,000 square feet to half an acre. Individual home values range from $500,000 to $700,000, with a minimum of 2,600 square feet per home.

It is anticipated that the infrastructure will be completed in September, at which time the lots, which are currently available for purchase, will be released to the builders – Scott Felder Homes, Sterling Brook Custom Homes and Victor Myers Custom Homes – and homes will begin to be built. At that time, Scott Felder Homes will be constructing a model home for public viewing.

Sellmeyer Lane remains closed as crews work to realign the road at the “S” curve at Wichita Estates. Sellmeyer will be straightened and widened to a 31-foot wide concrete paved road with curb and gutter. Additionally a ten-foot wide hike and bike trail will be built to connect the trail at Murray Park and Highland Village Road trail.
