Change the world this Christmas

As I sat down to write this I didn’t want to write about keeping Christ in Christmas, explain that Jesus is the reason for the season, or any other trite Christmas theme. Those messages are like the jets that fly overhead every couple of minutes here in Flower Mound. We barely even notice their constant drone.

So, I asked God what he wanted to say. The answer surprised me. I was reminded of Jesus’ words in John 21 when he told Simon Peter three times to feed and care for his sheep.  “What does that have to do with Christmas,” I thought. Then it hit me. Jesus calls on his followers to feed and care for his sheep. What better way to celebrate the birth of the Good Shepherd than to honor and obey his instructions about caring for his sheep?

I recently learned over 1 billion people worldwide are without clean water. That’s 1 in 9 who lack the most basic necessity of life: clean water. This Christmas we can make a difference. We can change the world. Instead of getting worked up about keeping Christ in Christmas, let’s BE Christ this Christmas.

Here’s how YOU can help. A local group recently began a water project through charity: water to provide a clean water well to one of the worst areas of the water crisis. The best part is 100% of donations go to the water project. One hundred percent!

Want to help change the world this Christmas? Want to celebrate Christ by caring for his sheep? Go to my.charitywater.org/change-the-world-5 and donate. Or forgo presents this year and ask your family and friends to donate to the water project instead. It’s that easy to change someone’s world. And isn’t that what Jesus did…change the world…change your world?
