Update: The Town of Flower Mound will continue to accept gift cards for the people of Moore, Okla. affected by the devastating tornado through Saturday at the Flower Mound Public Library, 3030 Broadmoor Lane. The library will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The town is collecting gift cards to businesses like Target, Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens, gas stations, and restaurants until 5 p.m. this Friday, May 24.
Gift cards (no cash) may be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday at the town secretary’s office at Flower Mound Town Hall, 2121 Cross Timbers Rd. Donors are asked to write the dollar amount on the card.
The gift cards will be delivered to Moore on Sunday to be distributed to families in need by the City of Moore staff.
“Our town staff spoke with the staff of Moore today and they said they didn’t have any place to store another U-Haul full of supplies, but they thought gift cards would be a great help and their town manager would make sure it got to the right people,” said Flower Mound Mayor Tom Hayden.
“As of Thursday night we have raised over $3000.”
