The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) will hold a canned food drive this weekend benefiting the Denton Community Food Center at the 32nd Annual Arts & Jazz Festival in Denton.
Community members are invited to bring a canned food item to the DCTA booth where they will receive a free Regional Day Pass to use any time (one free pass per person).
The Denton Arts & Jazz festival will take place Friday through Sunday, April 27-29, at Denton Quakertown Park located at 321 E. McKinney, Denton 76201.
Quakertown Park is conveniently located just two blocks northeast of the Historical Downtown Denton Square and is also just a short walk or bus ride from the Downtown Denton Transit Center.
The festival is open 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, visit the festival website www.dentonjazzfest.com.
To avoid traffic and parking congestion for the highly attended Arts & Jazz Festival, DCTA encourages festival goers to take the A-train and Denton Connect bus service.
For those traveling to Denton, passengers can ride the A-train from Lewisville or Highland Village.
A-train passengers can make a free transfer to Connect Routes 4 and 5 for easy access to the festival from the Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC). Passengers who take transit to the festival on Friday or Saturday can also take their DCTA or DART pass to the Main Stage Souvenir Booth to receive a free Arts & Jazz Festival Favorites CD, while supplies last.
When using DCTA services to access this weekend’s special event in Denton, passengers should plan their trip using DCTA’s online trip planner and have an understanding of Connect and A-train weekend service hours. Bus service ends around 8:30 p.m. on Friday night and at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday night. The last southbound A-train departure to Carrolton’s DART Trinity Mills Station from Denton is 11:38 p.m. on Friday and 11:15 p.m. on Saturday. There are no DCTA services on Sunday.
