Kids took their turn trying on SWAT protective gear during the Flower Mound Police Department’s annual Open House, which was held in conjunction with National Night Out on Tuesday.
Residents had the opportunity to get a close-up look at various police vehicles, talk with SWAT team members, meet McGruff the Crime Dog, and tour the police station.
While there, numerous parents took advantage of the department’s participation in Project Safe Kids and had their child safety seat inspected.
Glenwick Estates was named the 2011 Neighborhood of the Year for having the most outstanding National Night Out block party participation, theme and activities, town officials said.
