Biz People Spotlight: A Story Worth Remembering

“Baby Jessica” turned 25 this year, celebrating her rescue on October 16, 1987 from the backyard well that she had fallen into 58 hours previously.   The event became national and international news with a new medium, CNN, broadcasting 24 hours a day at the site.   Dozens of paramedics, firemen and other rescue workers miraculously worked through those 58 hours to save “Baby Jessica.”  One of those workers was Steve Allcorn, General Manager for RE/MAX DFW Associates.

“Baby Jessica” today is Jessica McClure Morales, married with two pre-school children and thankful for her wonderful family.  Some 15 surgeries later due to injuries sustained in the well, she and her husband today live only two miles from the site where she was rescued.

Steve Allcorn at the time of the rescue was 25 yrs old, married, with two small children, Brittany, 2, and Chris, 1.

Today, Steve and his wife Revis live in Highland Village. Their two children have recently graduated from college and both have successful jobs and a great future.

“I will never forget October 1987 and the rescue of “Baby Jessica,” said Allcorn.  “Some days it feels like only yesterday and it was a thrill beyond belief to see “Baby Jessica” pulled out of that well.  Everybody came together to save Jessica.”

Allcorn and his young family moved to Dallas two years later and he entered the real estate profession.  He began his career in Lewisville with a small firm and soon transferred to a RE/MAX office in the area.  In 1992,  he and his wife and real estate partner, Revis, opened the Flower Mound RE/MAX office and built the firm into a major strength in Flower Mound/Lewisville.

In 2000, they sold the company to RE/MAX DFW Associates as the fourth office in the company’s growth expansion.  He stayed on as an agent for a couple of years and then in 2005 accepted the position of General Manager for the firm, overseeing numerous daily operations of the firm.  He also serves today as the manager for the Valley Ranch/Las Colinas office and the Flower Mound office.

A seventh generation native Texas, Steve has assisted over 1,600 families with their home sale or purchase.  He has earned the distinguished RE/MAX Hall of Fame and RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement Awards.

He enjoys remaining active in real estate sales, and loves assisting others toward success.  He is well respected by the agents at RE/MAX DFW Associates.  He recently was named “Manager of the Year” by the agents.  As an agent before his acceptance of General Manager, Allcorn had been voted “Realtor of the Year” by his peers.  Not many people receive such honors.  Steve has received many deserved accolades.

Twenty-five year old Jessica McClure has her two small children and a loving family.  Steve Allcorn’s two babies of 1987 have grown up and in the past year have left the nest.   It is a story worth remembering.

RE/MAX DFW Associates has six offices with 260 agents.  The office locations are in Carrollton, Coppell, Flower Mound, Frisco, Irving and Plano.  The firm is the largest RE/MAX franchise in the Southwestern region of the United States.  For more information visit the firm’s Facebook page or the company’s website at RMDFW.com.
