Lewisville Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Stephen Waddell announced this morning the elimination of six senior cabinet level positions, which will save an estimated $600,000 annually.
The six positions include two deputy superintendent and four assistant superintendent positions. However, the Deputy Superintendent of Finance has been reclassified to a Chief Financial Officer position, reducing the salary by $20,000.
“As our district is reviewing the necessity of every single position, a restructuring of our organization is necessary,” Waddell said. “The cabinet level administration has taken the largest staff reduction in comparison to all employee groups, which demonstrates our commitment to protect our classrooms.”
In early April, the district announced renewing all probationary contract teachers by utilizing the fund balance. This effort allowed LISD to retain first, second, and third-year teachers for an additional school year.
Throughout May, Waddell will continue to review all district positions as he reorganizes the district’s leadership to ensure operations are streamlined and efficient with the ultimate goal of improved service for staff and parents, officials said. Prior to the school-year ending, Waddell will announce the leadership organizational chart.
