Hermine punishes area

The remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine dumped up to 8 inches of rain in southern Denton County on Tuesday and Wednesday, flooding roads, damaging homes, businesses and schools and prompting high-water rescues.

In Highland Village, the city has closed Highland Village Road between Sellmeyer Lane and Lakeland Drive until further notice due to extensive road damage caused by the heavy rains.

Town officials said that Doubletree Drive is a designated alternate route for residents living east of the affected area and Sellmeyer Lane is the alternate route to the west.

Several streets remain closed in Flower Mound. Click here for updated road closure information from the town.
