Leaders believe in the power of prayer

Mayor Dianne Costa of Highland Village, Mayor Jody Smith of Flower Mound, and Mayor Dean Ueckert of Lewisville will participate in the Eleventh Annual Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast this Wednesday, May 5, at 6:45 a.m. in the Family Life Center of Lakeland Baptist Church in Lewisville.

For the past ten years, the event has been a great opportunity for community and business leaders of the cities to come together and pray.  Special emphasis is placed on prayer for law enforcement, elected officials, schools, pastors, churches, and our military.

Patterned after the Annual National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, DC, the event is designed as a time for rededication of individuals and our communities to God.

The purpose of the local Prayer Breakfast is a public gathering and honoring of God through prayer, music, speech, and God’s Word.  This year’s breakfast will involve many leading businessmen, clergy, and citizens of our communities and will feature Sheila Walsh as the keynote speaker and singer.

Walsh is a powerful inspirational speaker and singer.  She is a featured speaker with America’s largest women’s conference, “Women of Faith.”  Sheila is a Grammy nominated singer and has released over twenty albums. She has also written over 17 books including her 2010 just released book, “Beautiful Things Happen When a Woman Trusts God.”

In past years, this event has attracted 400 to 500 people.  The host committee expects a sellout crowd this year. For information and tickets to the Prayer Breakfast, contact Lakeland Baptist Church at 972-436-4561.
