By Ricky Vaughan, Fire Chief, Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1
As we reflect on 2025, I’m easily reminded of what an honor and privilege it is to serve, and how truly blessed and grateful we are for the unwavering support from the communities we serve.
This past year was filled with many successful achievements, as it marked the first year of our 2025-2027 Strategic Plan. Through the collective efforts of our team, we are proud to report that we have already accomplished more than 42 percent of this three-year plan, which includes six initiatives, 24 goals, and 79 objectives. In addition, 2025 was a historic year, as we placed our very first aerial ladder truck, and our third ambulance, in service. Each of these accomplishments will enhance our level of service and are a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our personnel, our ESD commissioners, and our community stakeholders.
As we look forward to 2026, we remain focused on thoughtful growth, operational excellence, and responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to us. As our communities continue to evolve and grow, we will advance the remaining objectives of our Strategic Plan, invest in our personnel, strengthen infrastructure and response capabilities, and enhance prevention and risk reduction efforts. Our commitment for the new year is clear: to continuously improve, adapt to emerging challenges, and ensure that Denton County ESD No. 1 is prepared to meet the needs of those we serve while building a strong foundation for the future.
My sincere thanks for another great year to our personnel, our ESD Commissioners, partnering jurisdictions and agencies, and most importantly, our residents and local businesses. On behalf of the men and women at Denton County ESD No. 1, we would like to wish you and your families a safe and Happy New Year!
