The Denton Independent School District, along with United Way of Denton County, launched their annual district-wide United Way Employee Giving Campaign at its Board of School Trustees meeting on Tuesday.
For more than 25 years, Denton ISD and United Way of Denton County have worked together to invest in children in the Denton County community, according to a United Way news release. Superintendent Dr. Jamie Wilson and long-time United Way District Ambassadors Dr. Buddy Dunworth, McMath Middle School Principal, and Renee Koontz, Rodriquez Middle School Principal, are leading another spirited effort among the district’s 43 campuses to raise much-needed funding to support children and families in crisis.
“As one of the fastest growing communities in the country, our teachers and staff see the expanding need for support for families on a daily basis,” said Jamie Wilson, Denton ISD Superintendent of Schools and United Way of Denton County Board member. “This campaign and the funds generated can provide game changing support for many of our families.”
Denton ISD’s 2019 United Way Campaign began this summer at the Leadership Training for the district’s principals and assistant principals with nearly $20,000 in pledges. Professional photographer Guy T snapped photos of attendees from each campus sporting specialized “LIVE UNITED for Denton County” t-shirts in the school district’s zone colors. Posters featuring these photos will be on display at each campus during the district-wide campaign held next week: Monday, October 14 – Friday, October 18.
Denton ISD and United Way of Denton County enjoy a long-standing partnership in support of our community and the children who are our future. Denton ISD representatives serve on the Denton County Behavior Health Leadership Team and the Denton County Workforce Success Leadership Team, of which United Way of Denton County provides backbone support.
