The town of Flower Mound says it has received several inquiries about the parking garage in the River Walk area after it filled up Wednesday as residents tried to protect their vehicles from anticipated severe weather, including large hail.
The parking garage is located next to the Courtyard by Marriott hotel and near medical facilities in the River Walk district, and it has more than 400 spaces. It is open to the public and free, and there are no specific rules about who may park in it, but the hotel has the right to reserve 146 spaces for its guests, according to a news release from the town of Flower Mound.
The garage is not owned by the town but by New Era Partners, the developer of the building that houses the Courtyard. No public funds have contributed to the garage yet, according to the town. There is an agreement in place that allows the developer to request reimbursement of up to $1 million for the construction of the garage from the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone, but that hasn’t happened.
