Gary Wayne Joseff

Gary Wayne Joseff was born in Islip, New York, in 1943 and passed away in Texas on August 9, 2026. He leaves behind a lifetime of adventures, friendships, memories, and, most importantly, a family who loved him dearly.

Gary was intelligent, curious, dedicated, and generous. He graduated from New York University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and proudly served his country for more than 30 years with the CIA. His career took him around the world, including opportunities to live in Japan and Germany. He later worked for Lockheed Martin before retiring in Texas.

Gary believed in serving others. Wherever he lived, he found ways to give back, volunteering at animal shelters, Travelers Aid at DFW Airport, the Super Bowl, and in his local community. He loved being part of the ROMEOs—Really Old Men Eating Out—and treasured the friendships, food, and laughter they shared.

His greatest joy, however, was his family. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Michiko; devoted father to Laura Ellis and her husband, Abe, and Matthew Joseff and his wife, Jes; and loving grandfather to Casey, Gant, Kayleigh, Kaiya, Elliott, Vivienne, and Everette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne and John Joseff.

Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.

Please remember Gary through an adventure, a helping hand, or a beautiful moment worth capturing. His adventures may have ended, but his love, kindness, and memories will live on.
