Robson Ranch Rambler — December 2023

You would think in retirement we would have more time to just relax and enjoy the holidays. After all, we are not working full-time, and our children are grown. Ha! Admittedly, it is our choice to be busy or not. For many of us, because we have more time, we add more events and activities. I still have an excel project plan for the holidays, but in addition to baking, shopping and wrapping, new cells are filled with charity activities, travel to be with family and getting my guest room ready for out-of-town guests and the many events at Robson Ranch.

Leading off is the Women’s Club annual Homes for the Holidays Tour of six amazing homes which is open to Robson Ranch residents and their family and friends (adults only) on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 3 to 6 p.m. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit Our Daily Bread Together with Monsignor King Outreach Center. A wine pull at two homes benefits the Denton Community Food Center.

The Robson Ranch Choir will perform “Christmas at the Ranch” on Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. The Choir invites you and yours to come and relish the joyful tunes of the season. The selections this year are poignant, glorious, and diverse, yet well known. The choir has grown from its original membership of about 20 to some 85 voices today. Collectively the choir dedicates over 7,000 hours per year to their love of music. The choir is under professional direction and works with professional musicians for their choral concerts.

Of course, our front yards are getting decked out for the holidays. Because our holiday spirit is overflowing, lights were on as of November 1 this year. It’s also the season for the inaugural Holiday Night Lights Tour on our golf course. Residents are being asked to join in the holiday spirit by donating a toy to Toys 4 Tots. The donation barrel will be on the patio near our special guest and his magical laughter. The Holiday Night Lights Tour will begin on the West Course at 5:30 p.m. and continue on through the South and North courses for a total of 90 minutes. Due to popular demand, the tour will be on two nights: Dec. 10th and Dec. 14th.

Capping it all off is the New Year’s Eve Party in the Robson Ranch clubhouse on Sunday, Dec. 31, organized by the Robson Ranch HOA and Wildhorse Grill. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the New York Ball Drop will be at 11 p.m.

Holidays are all about gathering with family and friends. We are blessed at Robson Ranch to have these festive community activities as well. What’s the last cell on my holiday project plan? RELAX. I hope that during this holiday season, you all have time to sit and relax and enjoy the moment.
