Daniel Kevin “Dan” Lattimore, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at a memory care facility in Lewisville. Dan was a gifted man, and he loved his life as a prolific graphic artist. He was born on October 4, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Henry Carson Lattimore and Mary Josephine (Dorgan) Lattimore. Growing up, Dan had a nomadic childhood as his family moved to multiple locations in six states before settling in Medford, New Jersey. As a child, Dan’s favorite past times included model making, baseball, swimming, and taking painting lessons with his mom. Later, he enjoyed surfing in the Atlantic Ocean. Dan attended and graduated from Lenape Regional High School in 1969. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from the Philadelphia College of Art, now the University of the Arts.
After graduation, he moved back to Chicago and married LeeAnn Hesselgrave in 1975. His son Michael was born on January 9, 1981, and daughter Dana was born on October 24, 1983. The family moved to Flower Mound in 1985 for Dan’s successful career as a commercial artist at GTE and later, Verizon Directories Corporations. His daughter, Katie, was born on January 30, 1991. Dan was pleased to create drawings and watercolors of family and friends’ children, pets, cars, and houses. He enjoyed taking pictures during vacations and painting them to hang in the house. Dan competed in many art shows over the years and won many awards. He was even featured on television for his unique creations of celebrity heads painted, many times monochromatically, on carved masonite board. Dan was honored to have a solo exhibition at the Lewisville Grand Theater in 2013 to showcase his life’s work. Dan’s three children grew up in his creative atmosphere.
Throughout Dan’s life, he was known as a kind and quiet person with a dry sense of humor. As an adult, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing ping pong, and most of all, being with his family. In his many pursuits, Dan exuded strength, positivity, patience, and an appreciation for beauty that was felt by everyone who knew him. Dan will be forever remembered and loved by his immediate family; beloved wife, LeeAnn Lattimore; son, Michael Henry Lattimore; daughter, Dana Kathleen Reinhardt (Trevor); daughter, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Satterfield (Conner); grandchildren Ethan Reinhardt, Tinsley Reinhardt, and Tessa Reinhardt; brother Jack Lattimore (Sue); and sister Maureen Lattimore. Dan is predeceased by his brother Frank Lattimore.
