The Rotary Club of Flower Mound, in partnership with the town of Flower Mound, is hosting the 5th annual Reindeer Run 5K and Grinch Sprint on the morning of Dec. 2, just the beginning of a busy of holiday fun.
The Reindeer Run is a gently sloping, stroller-capable, chip-timed run through the trails of Heritage and Bakersfield parks in south Flower Mound, according to a news release from the organization. The Grinch Sprint is a 1-mile run for kids.
All participants will receive a medal and a T-shirt. Participants are encouraged to come in holiday attire and can enjoy coffee, hot chocolate, pancakes and cookies after the run, while supplies last. Santa Claus and the Grinch will be on hand for photos. Awards will be given out in each age group. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall.
The event is open to all ages. The fee for the 5K run is $35; the fee for the Grinch Sprint is $20.

Later that day, the annual Flower Mound Christmas Parade will begin at 6 p.m. at Spinks Road and Lexington, and it will end at Gerault Park. This year’s theme is Toyland Christmas.
The evening will conclude with the countdown to the lighting of more than 100,000 LED lights on out 50-foot-tall Christmas tree. Enjoy a festive fireworks show immediately following the tree lighting. The tree lighting ceremony will take place at 7:35 p.m. at the Community Activity Center at Gerault Park, along with live performances from local groups, pictures with Santa, a community tent, food trucks, kids’ activities and more.
