Football Playoffs Scoreboard – 4th Round

Guyer 48, Amarillo Tascosa 7

The Wildcats coasted to the state semifinals on Saturday afternoon after easily putting away Amarillo Tascosa.

Kaedric Cobbs got things going for the Wildcats, scoring on a 10-yard run to take a 7-0 lead into the second quarter for Guyer.

Cobbs scored on a 17-yard run to make it 14-0 early in the second quarter before Tascosa scored to cut the lead in half.

Less than a minute later, Guyer came right back with a 67-yard touchdown pass from Eli Stowers to Travis Romar to make it 21-7, and with under three minutes remaining, Stowers connected with Seth Meador on a 41-yard touchdown pass, giving the Wildcats a 28-7 halftime lead.

Stowers hit Tiyon Aldridge on a 20-yard pass at the 9:33 mark of the third quarter, and hooked up with Meador again on a 38-yard touchdown pass to make it 41-7 heading into the fourth quarter for Guyer.

Grant O’Bara scored on a 2-yard run with just over four minutes to play in the game to finish things out for the Wildcats.

Guyer (13-1) will play Spring Westfield (13-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Sheldon ISD Panther Stadium in Houston.

Waco La Vega 44, Argyle 20

The Eagles’ struggles with Waco La Vega continued on Friday night, as their season came to an end.

It was the second straight year that La Vega defeated Argyle in the state quarterfinals.

Argyle trailed 10-0 in the first quarter, when Bo Hogeboom brought the game to with four points on a 75-yard touchdown pass to Cole Kirkpatrick.

The Pirates scored 21 unanswered points before Argyle struck again, this time on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Hogeboom to Cade Merka in the second quarter to make it 31-13 La Vega going into the half.

The Pirates scored twice more, and in spite of a 21-yard touchdown pass from Hogeboom to Kirkpatick late in the fourth quarter, Argyle could not mount a comeback.

Argyle (13-1) won the district 7-4A championship this season, defeating Dallas Carter in bi-district, Stephenville at area and Brownwood at regionals to reach the state quarterfinals.
