By Raymond Suarez, DCTA CEO
It’s that time of year for the annual Lions Club Balloon Festival in Highland Village, and DCTA is proud to be involved in this family-friendly event! The FREE festival will be held Friday, August 16, through Sunday, August 18, and will feature fun activities for the entire family including a kid zone, petting zoo, live bands, car show, food, arts and crafts booths, and the iconic hot air balloons.
For many years, we have partnered with the Lion’s Club to provide free transit options for city of Highland Village residents, as well as festival goers looking to get “blown away” by the vibrant balloon-filled skies. DCTA’s involvement with this festival is significant as we consider it one of our main priorities to collaborate with each of our member cities for major events to help provide transportation solutions that will support their community and festival attendance.
SHUTTLE SERVICE 101
DCTA’s free shuttle service is open to the general public and will operate on both Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17. Our free shuttle service will run every 20 minutes, and anyone can ride our free shuttle service that will get people to the festival location. Festival attendees should keep in mind that DCTA will not operate shuttle service on Sunday, August 19 (last day of the festival).
FESTIVAL TRIP PLANNING HELP

Highland Village residents can ride our free shuttle service to get to the festival and not worry about paying for parking. For other Denton county residents who don’t live in Highland Village, they can ride our A-train and free shuttle service to get to the festival. For this trip, you will need to have or purchase a DCTA local pass ($3) and ride our A-train and then transfer to our free shuttle service.
