Bartonville Town Update — June 2019

Bartonville Mayor Bill Scherer

Greetings from Bartonville!

Hard to believe spring is ending, schools are entering summer break and summer is almost here.

The election results are in! Council members Jeff Traylor, Clay Sams and Josh Phillips were all re-elected and will each serve another two-year term.  I would also like to welcome Dr. Bridget Melson to the Town Council, she will serve one year for the remainder of the unexpired Place 4 term.  Thank you residents! We are so proud that the Town of Bartonville continues to have one of the highest voter turnout rates in Denton County.

Hometown Heroes Wall Dedication

The dedication ceremony for Our Hometown Heroes Wall has been rescheduled to Tuesday, June 11th at 6:30 p.m.  This dedication ceremony will take place at Bartonville Town Hall.  All are encouraged to attend to honor the memory of Bartonville residents who gave their lives while actively serving in the Armed Forces.

Curbside Hazardous Waste Program

The Town Council has approved a new monthly curbside household hazardous waste program at no cost to our residents.  Due to Texas Environmental Quality Commission regulations, collections cannot start until mid-July.  Please be on the lookout for a postcard and details on the Town’s website regarding how to take advantage of this great new service.

Bartonville Community Room

Residents can rent the community room located within Town Hall, free of charge, unless it is for commercial or for-profit use.  The room is reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Call Town Hall at 817-693-5280 for further information.

Fireworks

Lastly, with the 4th of July quickly approaching, please remember that fireworks are permitted within the Town of Bartonville on your personal property ONLY if it is a Denton County Burn Day. Please confirm if it is a Burn Day (posted after 10 a.m.) before any use of fireworks takes place.  This information is posted on the town’s website or you can call 940.349.2840.  If you will be using fireworks, please be mindful of your neighbors and ensure that all fireworks released remain on your personal property.

As always, please be mindful of keeping your bar ditches mowed and standing water removed. Warm weather is quickly approaching.
