People across the U.S. will kick off the spring trail season on Saturday by visiting their favorite trails for a walk, run or ride in observance of national “Opening Day for Trails,” and Highland Village is joining in on the spring fun.
The city is partnering with the Denton County Transportation Authority and the cities of Denton, Lake Dallas, Corinth, and Lewisville to host a “Rails to Trails” event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon to get residents out and moving on its A-train Rail Trail to kick off the spring season, according to a news release from the city of Highland Village.
The “Rails to Trails” event will connect residents to others in the community and encourage them to walk, bike, run or just spend time enjoying the scenery the trail has to offer. City-hosted fun stations and table tops will be hosted at several locations around Denton County, including the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake DCTA station, 2998 North Stemmons Freeway, Lewisville.
DCTA will provide free A-train rides to all “Rails to Trails” event attendees. Just say the event code word “Opening Day” to a DCTA rail operator to ride the A-train free all day on Saturday, April 13. DCTA will operate regular A-train service during the event. The free ride promotion is not valid on other DCTA or DART services.
