Early voting begins April 22 for the May 4 municipal and school board elections across southern Denton County and The Cross Timbers Gazette will host three candidate forums to help voters make informed choices.
Copper Canyon
Mayoral and Town Council candidates in contested elections will participate in a forum on Sunday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at Copper Canyon Town Hall, 400 Woodland Drive.
Mayor Sue Tejml is being challenged by former Bartonville mayor Ron Robertson. Newcomers Robin Davis and Karla Hohenberger are vying for Place 4. Ted Stranczek and incumbent Jeff Mangum are facing off in Place 2. The seats expire in two years.

Argyle
Argyle Town Council candidates will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at Argyle Town Hall, 308 Denton St E.
This year, the positions of Town Council Places 2 and 4 are contested.
Shane Campbell will challenge Ronald Schmidt for Place 2 and Chet Schrader is running against incumbent Cynthia Hermann for Place 4. Hermann was appointed last month to replace Todd Mankin, who resigned due to a relocation. Council members serve two-year terms.
The town is going to live stream the forum and it will be archived on our website.

Flower Mound
Flower Mound candidates will participate in a forum on Thursday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at Flower Mound Town Hall, 2121 Cross Timbers Road.
Place 1 has three candidates: Laile Neal, Laura Dillon and Jim Pierson. The Place 3 race is between Mike Wallace and Ben Bumgarner.
Lewisville Independent School District has one contested race in Place 4 between incumbent Katherine Sells and Jacob Collier. Both candidates will have 3 minutes each to address the public at the beginning of the forum.
The event will be televised live and rebroadcast on FMTV, the town’s government access cable channel. It will also be live-streamed and archived on the town’s website.
